Family Dreams Become a Realty

Lisa's parents -- Roger A. and Connie M. Halvorson, formerly of Monona, Iowa -- purchased the "Rohde Family" farm in rural Fayette County, Iowa, where Connie grew up with her parents and siblings, and together Roger and Connie planted their 2 ac. vineyard in 1999 in order to supply their grapes to make their Marquette Maid wines.

Lisa and Carlton acquired 15 ac. of this farmland including the vineyard, and together over several years' time they've built their winery, tasting room, gift shop, wine garden courtyard, festival grounds, tourism lodging, and their private home. Lisa and Carlton's HEAVEN BOUTIQUE WINERY's first day of operation was May 1, 2019. And every day since then they've been building more and making new enhancements to offer the best and very unique experience to all of their customers.

LISA HALVORSON GOODWIN -- a hotel operations executive by trade -- runs the "front of the house" operations, which includes all aspects of the tasting room, gift shop, tourism "tiny houses". The tasting room sells only the best tasting and biggest variety of Iowa-made wines by Iowa wineries in one location in northeast Iowa. And, Lisa's an artist in her own right and she crafts the most beautiful Iowa-made artwork to sell in her shop, which sells only Iowa-made artwork made by Iowan artists.

CARLTON GOODWIN -- an architect by trade -- runs the "back of the house" operations, which include caring for and pruning the vineyard's grapes. Carlton also picks and presses the grapes, from which he makes his own estate wines. With the first year's success of making his own wines "Mother's Little Helper" and "Fishing Widow", the public is patiently waiting to taste Carlton's next offerings. Plus, Lisa always has Carlton making or building something when he's not working on keeping the entire property and equipment running smoothly.
